⚠ Add-On Seats Are Not Infant Compatible on Their Own
Trio, Tribe, and Tandem add-on seats do not recline flat enough for infant use due to space constraints. Their Calf Rest Cocoon is a useful accessory for sun protection and catching small items, but it does not make these seats infant compatible. Always use a car seat adapter when placing a newborn in an add-on seat position.

The Infant Cocoon

On the Twin V3 & Tour V3
The Infant Cocoon is a wrap-around feature on the V3 Twin and Tour. It tucks under the calf rest and, when combined with the seat's deep recline, meets all infant compatibility requirements.
These two strollers feature a 155° recline. That deeper recline, combined with the Infant Cocoon and the updated canopy structure (no more velcro opening), is what makes these seats fully infant compatible from birth.

The Calf Rest Cocoon

On Trio, Tribe & Tandem Add-On Seats

The wrap-around feature on add-on seats is called the Calf Rest Cocoon — not the Infant Cocoon. This distinction is intentional: the add-on seats do not recline flat enough for infant use. The Calf Rest Cocoon is still useful as a catch-all and for sun protection, but does not qualify these seats for infant use.

Car Seat Adapter Compatibility

All V3 strollers are car seat compatible. The correct adapter depends on your stroller model — the V3 Tour and Tandem use different adapters from the Twin, Trio, and Tribe due to their wider frame. See our full Car Seat Adapter Chart here for all compatibility.

The Journey

The Journey stroller is compatible from birth with the included bassinet or car seat adapters (the stroller seat is approved for 6 months and up). The Journey has its own set of car seat adapters and is not compatible with Twin, Tour, or add-on seat adapters.

V2 Model Compatibility

V2 strollers remain infant-compatible only with a car seat adapter. V2 strollers do not support Uppababy adapters — that compatibility was introduced with the latest V3 strollers. See our full Car Seat Adapter Chart here for all compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my newborn in the front seat of the V3 Tandem, Trio or Tribe?

Not without a car seat. The front seats of the Trio, Tribe, and Tandem recline to 120° — not flat enough for infant use. You can place a newborn in the front seat using a compatible car seat adapter. Without one, the front seats are appropriate for children 3+ months.

What's the difference between the Infant Cocoon and the Calf Rest Cocoon?

They look similar — both are wrap-around features tucked under the calf rest — but only the Infant Cocoon (on the Twin and Tour V3 main seats) makes a seat infant compatible. The Calf Rest Cocoon on add-on seats is a comfort and sun-protection feature but does not provide the recline needed for safe infant positioning.
